The 2011 World Cheese Awards, the world’s largest international cheese competition, is now open for entries. According to organisers, the coveted awards echo around the globe, giving winning cheese producers a platform to increase sales and enjoy worldwide recognition.
More than 200 leading cheese buyers, retail experts, chefs and food journalists will judge at the awards this year. Staged in a dedicated hall alongside the famous BBC Good Food Show, the 2011 World Cheese Awards will command massive national and international attention, taking place on 23 November 2011.
Last year, over 2,000 cheeses from the UK, Europe, the USA, South Africa and the Australasia were shipped to the NEC, Birmingham. The Cornish Cheese Company’s Cornish Blue Cheese won the prestigious 2010 Supreme Champion, and is reported to be enjoying great success with the cheese now stocked in major independents and, on the back of its win, a listing in Sainsbury’s.
The World Cheese Awards has continued to grow for over 20 years. Last year, the awards reached new heights by securing a Guinness World Records title for the World’s Largest Cheeseboard. The record win will feature in this edition of the Guinness World Records 2012, in stores from 15 September 2011.
