Shaftesbury are pleased to announce the opening of macaron ice cream sandwich brand, which is the brand’s first permanent store located at 24 Rupert Street.
Offering 18 covers, the 450sq ft store designed by Olly Simpson serves Yolkin’s signature ice cream macarons inspired by South East Asian flavours with a western twist such as matcha and oreo, pandan and coconut, lychee, black sesame, purple yam and Hong Kong milk tea. With a ‘no waste ethos’, the new store features biodegradable cutlery and vintage reclaimed wood.
Commenting on the new opening, Julia Wilkinson, head of group restaurant strategy at Shaftesbury, said: “Yolkin has already proved to be an exciting addition to Chinatown London and is a huge hit with our visitors. The brand has amassed an impressive following on social media with their brightly-coloured, highly-Instagrammable desserts, and added to the buzz of the opening by implementing a successful launch through these platforms. Their attractive macaron sandwiches fit in perfectly with Chinatown London’s growing offer of Asian-inspired dessert operators.”
