Today’s partners with bigDL and major brands to drive sales

Today’s, the UK’s largest independent buying group, has announced its partnership with bigDL, a powerful digital marketing tool, to drive sales in convenience stores. The partnership will see over 400 Today’s & Day Today symbol stores, throughout the UK, roll out bigDL’s breadth of marketing tools, including beacon and mobile coupon technology. Major brands will also team up with Today’s and bigDL to offer exclusive mobile coupons on their products, which can be redeemed in Today’s stores via the bigDL app.

bigDL is a digital communication tool that enables retailers and brands to connect with consumers via their mobile devices. Central to bigDL’s technology is its mobile application, which is integrated with mobile coupon and beacon technology. It provides consumers with a comprehensive view of the best deals on the high street and online. Today’s stores will upload their best deals as well as exclusive mobile coupons on the app, which will be viewed by local shoppers.

Major brands joining forces with bigDL to deliver exclusive mobile coupons for Today’s include Heinz, Heineken, Molson Coors, DCS Group, Coca Cola, Tate & Lyle, Britvic, KP, Burton’s, Nestle, Kellogg’s, Weetabix, KP and many more. The brands will fund the coupons, which can be found on the bigDL app. Coupons can then be redeemed in participating Today’s stores with bigDL’s mobile coupon reader.

John Kinney, retail director at Today’s, said: “bigDL technology will help us drive footfall and sales. It will extend the reach of our promotional activities, putting our offers right in the hands of customers close to our stores. The technology will help us attract increasingly technically savvy and value-hungry customers, a demographic that often does not respond to traditional paper leaflets.”

Matt Norbury, CEO of bigDL and epoints, said: “bigDL’s technology will bring a new dimension of interaction between Today’s and its customers. It will enable them to communicate with customers in real-time with personalised alerts direct to the mobile devices of nearby customers.”

The bigDL app has an average rating of 4*s on the Apple App store and Google Play, with the average user using the app seven times per month, viewing 26 screens for 12 minutes 48 seconds. Daily engagement with the app is bolstered with the in-app game The Big Deal Wheel, which ensures users win a prize every day, including cash, epoints and prize draw entries.
