Retail advertising agency, Gratterpalm, has appointed James Lodge as its new mobile director to lead the development of a new proposition, Gratterpalm Mobile.

Lodge joins Gratterpalm from Velti, a leading global provider of mobile advertising technology, where he worked with brands such as Vodafone, EA Games and JustGiving. Prior to that, Lodge spent two years as account director at Manchester-based 2ergo and was responsible for its largest account, O2.

As mobile director, Lodge will work alongside Gratterpalm’s digital team to launch a new agency sub-brand, Gratterpalm Mobile. He will oversee the development of mobile marketing strategy, applications, web and experiential marketing to the UK retail and FMCG sector.

Lodge said: “As technology progresses, consumers are habitually turning to their smartphones for smarter ways to research products and services. Brands and retailers need to find better ways of engaging customers by optimising their user interfaces and experiences. Gratterpalm is well known for delivering innovative ideas, and we want to ensure mobile marketing becomes a major focus whilst remaining integrated with our work in the digital space.”

Gareth Healey, managing partner at Gratterpalm, said: “James is a welcome addition to our team and brings a great deal of experience in both mobile and digital. Under his leadership, we want to help clients get the most out of mobile marketing through targeted and efficient campaigns.”

“Our goal is to make Gratterpalm the go-to mobile agency outside London.”

Gratterpalm was named lead creative agency for telecoms brand KC in August and has since launched a mobile offer. Gratterpalm also delivered a text to win competition for Arla Foods during last year’s Olympics.
