Shoppers can add a touch of style to their shopping list this Easter, as Aldi introduces its Champagne Blanc de Noirs Gift Box (£17.99). Available online, this premium champagne is presented in an eggshell blue keepsake gift box, and the Blanc de Noirs bubbly is £17 cheaper than a similar Waitrose fizz.
The gift box is said to be ideal for the growing number of people who prefer to receive a boozy gift than chocolate at Easter. But shoppers better get in quickly, as Aldi reports it sold nearly two million bottles of Champagne last year.
Aldi’s Champagne Blanc de Noirs premium champagne is described as an elegant blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, well-structured with crisp red berries and a light lingering finish. Made by award-winning Champagne house, Philizot & Fils, the rich, layered, golden fizz pairs perfectly with shell fish and salmon. Having recently scored 90 points from Decanter, it is sure to go down well this spring, the retailer claims.
This sparkling addition comes as Aldi’s Veuve Monsigny Champagne Rosé (75cl, £16.99) was awarded 84/100 in Good Housekeeping’s pink fizz taste test. The variant was praised by experts for its ‘tart green apple, subtle raspberry and nutty marzipan notes’, giving a ‘well-balanced and refreshing finish.’ Crafted with a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the premium fizz came joint runner up with Waitrose & Partners’ Rosé Champagne.
