Aldi named Wine Supermarket of the Year at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2021


Supermarket Aldi has continued its winning streak and has been crowned ‘Wine Supermarket of the Year’ at the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) Supermarket of the Year Awards 2021, announced last week.

Beating upmarket rival Waitrose, as well as Booths and Lidl, Aldi makes it three wins in three months for its wine and spirits range. The supermarket scooped ‘Drinks Retailer of the Year’ at the Retail Industry Awards at the end of January and Multiple Wine Retailer of the Year at the Drinks Retailing Awards 2021.

Judges of the IWSC competition praised Aldi for: “the innovation achieved while keeping budget in mind on such a wide scale is second to none”.

The news comes as the latest Kantar data shows Aldi is the fastest growing retailer for still wines and Ready to Drink Cans and second fastest growing retailer for spirits[1].
