Grapevine Shiraz takes silver medal

Aldi is also set to finish the year on a high as its Grapevine Shiraz landed a silver medal in the prestigious Drinks Business Syrah Masters awards, alongside wines costing nearly three times as much.

The £3.69 Spanish wine, which is available in store now, scored an outstanding 90 points in the blind tasting by wine experts, proving Aldi’s affordable wines can hold their own with more expensive bottles.Aldi’s own-label wine received the same accolade as Dragon Hill’s Syrah 2019, which at £9.99 costs nearly three times as much. It also went one higher than Graham Norton’s Own Shiraz (£10.99), which took home a bronze.

The Grapevine Shiraz was celebrated by the judging masters of wine for its delicious notes of ripe strawberry, a touch of green herbal and red fruit, making it the perfect wine to spruce up the upcoming Christmas celebrations.

The Grapevine wasn’t the only wine to take home an award. Aldi’s Exquisite Collection South Australian Shiraz (£5.99)scored the second siver medal for the supermarket, with the Kooliburra Australian Reserve Shiraz (£3.99) and Kooliburra Australian Shiraz Cabernet (£3.99) both bringing home a bronze title.
