Anya Media targets fashion buyers with free mobile merchandising app

Anya Media has launched an app for iPhone and iPad, which it claims will change the way fashion retail buyers and planners do their ‘merchandising on the move’.

The free app, called Runway Merchandiser, will be the first mobile app for retail merchandising offered on the Apple App Store. It is available to download from iTunes now, in time for the upcoming season’s fashion shows including Pure, MODA and London Fashion Week.

Rather than trusting to memory and a notebook, fashion buyers and merchandisers attending the shows can use Runway Merchandiser – the pret-a-porter edition of Anya’s Runway merchandising software – to enter details of garments and accessories they are interested in stocking for the spring-summer 2013 season.

Helping buyers save time and stay in control, the app allows them to create mini range plans complete with pricing and margins, at any fashion event, said Anya Media.

Anya Media, will be exhibiting at Pure London and delegates can visit the Anya Media stand (S126) to get print-outs of their range plan ideas to work with at Pure, or take away for further consideration

“If you’re a fashion buyer, this can be a hectic time of year,” says Anya Media CEO, Christina Grzasko. “You may well be planning to attend up to 10 major shows in a month, taking in some big fashion weeks and brand showroom visits along the way. That’s a lot of garments and accessories to assess in a very short period and probably far too much information to retain in your head or on scraps of paper.         

“The danger for buyers who do things in this way is they end up making a rash impulse purchase of a half-remembered product. That’s where our new app comes in. What we are saying to buyers and planners is, your retail edits are too important to get lost en route and your budget is too precious to spend without doing all the sums first. The app can also be used with Anya Media’s Runway desktop merchandising software, enabling planners and buyers to put all the key information they have gathered about suppliers, products, prices and margins in one place where they can be costed and shared at any time by anyone involved in the business, wherever they are.

To accompany the launch of the new app, Anya Media will also be giving show visitors the chance to spend an hour with their own Runway PAs at the event. Each PA will be dedicated to helping buyers and planners gather and shape their range for the coming season. They will them leave them with a costed range plan based around the products chosen so they can see clearly what will work for their business as well as that of their customers.
