Argos caused the biggest stir in the ChannelAdvisor UK Facebook Commerce Index in October 2011, increasing its fan base by 121% and leaping up seven places to 16th in the Top 25.
ChannelAdvisor believes the surge could be due to the “Argos Find the Face” competition, which is looking for aspiring child models to become the face of Argos Kidswear.
Topshop continues to dominate the number one spot – with over 168,000 fans – but retailers are challenging each other for position throughout the rest of the table, said ChannelAdvisor.
ASOS has jumped up to second place in the list, pushing New Look down to third.
Ann Summers has been included in the chart for the first time and has a 237,659-strong fan base.
Many retailers are also seeing strong growth in fan count – Play.com, eBuyer.com and Littlewoods Clearance all saw well over 50% more fans ‘liking’ their pages in October 2011.
According to ChannelAdivsor, Play.com have a great offering of VIP deals and competitions that are only for its fans, and is in tune with the latest trends for gamers and movie fans.
Littlewoods Clearance, although smaller in terms of numbers, regularly engages fans with discussions and discounts, which is sure to be boosting its popularity, said ChannelAdvisor. In addition, big brands such as House of Fraser and Boohoo.com are both just outside our Top 25, but feature highly in the overall growth charts having added 23,880 and 29,568 fans respectively in October 2011.
