Asda is claiming a market first with the launch of iTunes gift cards online. And the retailer is selling its £25 card for just £20 until 10 January 2013, giving shoppers £5 extra free to spend in the iTunes store.
The iTunes gift cards, which are available in £15, £25, £50 and £100 denominations, are compatible with iTunes for Mac or Windows. Each virtual card includes a code redeemable for music, movies, TV shows, games, apps, and more on the iTunes Store, the iBookstore, the App Store, and the Mac App Store. Recipients can access their content on an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, and watch or listen on a computer.
After placing an order, customers will receive the voucher code within 60 minutes. Once they have this, they have the option to send it on as a gift.
Asda’s online category manager, Chris Wade, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these cards to customers in the UK. Apple’s iTunes stores are a treasure trove of multimedia entertainment, from eBooks to films and music. For those who are stuck on what to buy, or just don’t have time to hit the shops, these cards are an ideal gift.
“From iPads to iPods, the gadgets themselves are only part of the cost. With our £25 card, we’re providing the cheapest online content for Apple devices.”
These iTunes online gift cards can be found online at www.direct.asda.com. Asda is also selling the latest Apple products including the iPad with Retina Display from £399 and the fifth generation iPod Touch from £249.
