Asda has increased its fan base on Facebook by 59%, topping the fastest growers table in the January ChannelAdvisor UK Facebook Commerce Index.
Asda has consistently accumulated fans, adding 43,650 in January, but the pace is quickening as it continues to integrate social media within its website and gives Facebook fans the opportunity to get involved, said ChannelAdvisor.
For example, last month it asked fans to ‘vote for their favourite’ to help shape the spring line for its George clothing range.
Matalan, with 55% growth, was not far behind Asda and is a new entry in the Top % Growers table; with an impressive addition of 16,498 fans in January.
Matalan has made good use of polls and chat groups to generate brand loyalty and further consumer interactions, said ChannelAdvisor.
New Look and Boohoo.com, alongside Topshop, account for 30% of all fan growth in the January Index, rocketing up with a total 276,518 additional fans.
Accessorize, Jack Wills and Boohoo.com all moved up the rankings with a total of 178,580 fans together.
Accessorize had a successful month, adding more than 53,000 new fans (15%), said ChannelAdvisor.
Other notable growers in January include Next, Urban Outfitters, and Sainsbury’s, all of whom accumulated over 45,000 new fans each. The overall top 10 remains unchanged, however, and tellingly dominated by fashion retailers.
