Beyond Meat, Inc., a leader in plant-based meat, today announced significant new UK retail and foodservice partnerships as part of its plans to make plant-based options more accessible across the globe. As the UK sees growing consumer demand for plant-based options, supermarket chain Sainsbury’s will offer the revolutionary Beyond Burger in 372 stores nationwide and restaurant chain Gourmet Burger Kitchen will add the Beyond Burger to its menu across 41 locations.
“The UK continues to be a crucial part of Beyond Meat’s long-term growth strategy in Europe and we’re excited to bring our iconic plant-based products to more of the UK’s most popular supermarkets and high street restaurants,” said Chuck Muth, chief growth officer, Beyond Meat. “We know consumers are looking for more diverse protein options, so we are proud to partner with some of the UK’s favourite retailers to make Beyond Meat’s products more accessible than ever.”
Made with plant-based ingredients without GMOs, soy, gluten, antibiotics, and cholesterol, Beyond Meat’s products are designed to deliver the highest quality of delicious, nutritious, and sustainable plant-based meat options.
The company’s flagship product is the Beyond Burger, which as of this week is available at Sainsbury’s supermarkets across the UK and offers 19g of plant-based protein. The Beyond Burger is a perfect option for meat lovers who want the delicious, juicy burger experience, with no sacrifice required. Comprised of the same core constituents as meat – proteins, fats, carbohydrates, trace minerals and water – the Beyond Burger is made using plant-based ingredients. Peas and rice provide the protein, and coconut oil and potato starch offer mouth-watering juiciness. The result is a remarkable plant-based patty designed to look, cook, and satisfy just like animal-based burgers.
Accelerating growth across the EMEA region
Beyond Meat’s recent expansion in the UK builds upon the exciting momentum of severalnew foodservice and retail partnerships secured earlier this year, including Ocado, Holland & Barrett, and JD Wetherspoon. Beyond Meat fans can also experience the brand’s range of plant-based products at other existing UK partners such as Tesco, Brewdog, Byron Burger, Neat Burger, Dishoom, Hache, Honest Burger, Beefeater, Cosy Club, and All Bar One.
In June this year, Beyond Meat announced the opening of its first co-manufacturing capabilities in Europe. The acquisition of a manufacturing facility in the Netherlands, working in tandem with a co-manufacturing facility in collaboration with the European distributor Zandbergen, will help further Beyond Meat’s commitment to serving its global markets. This investment in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region will allow for more efficient distribution of Beyond Meat’s products across this market, including the UK, bringing production closer to the consumer.
