A community food store in Birmingham where colleagues have been going above and beyond to support locals during these uncertain times has been given a fresh new look following an investment of over £103,000.
The Central England Co-op in Chester Road, Chelmsley Wood, has received a raft of updates to give it a fresher, lighter feel and to include several new ranges and features to boost its offering to the local community.
This follows other notable investments by the retailer in the city in recent months, including over £350,000 spent on transformations of stores in Harborne, Kings Heath and Erdington.
The community food store in Chelmsley Wood has been undergoing a makeover in recent weeks with changes including:
- Improved food to go section with new features such as a brand-new Costa Coffee machine, a Tango Ice Blast machine, Rollover hot dogs and F’real milkshake machine
- New internal signage and decoration
- New external community space with benches and planters
Store manager Tim Holt said: “It is a really exciting time for the store, and we are delighted to have received this investment to bring some fantastic new features which have already had some really positive feedback from our members and customers.
“I would like to thank the community for their patience while the work has been completed but I hope they agree with us that it has been worth it.”
The Chelmsley Wood Food Store is open every day 7am-10pm. The store has a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special and also offers a lifesaving defibrillator, cash machine, Lottery, Collect Plus/Paypoint, instore bakery and a customer car park.
