Blakemore Trade Partners, the Spar division of AF Blakemore, has appointed Sarah Ellis as its new head of marketing, responsible for the delivery of innovative marketing solutions across Spar’s Meridian & Welsh Guild.
Ellis joined AF Blakemore on 3 March 2014 after a successful 13-year spell at marketing and communications agency McCann Manchester, where she was senior account director for the Aldi account.
Blakemore Trade Partners managing director, Jerry Marwood, said: “This is a really exciting appointment for Blakemore Trade Partners and our Spar estate.
“Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the company and is well placed to develop new ways of promoting the strong brand, and retailer and consumer proposition that we have in place across the Meridian & Welsh Guild.
“She has an excellent track record in the grocery retail sector and we look forward to implementing her fresh approach over the coming months.”
Ellis said: “I think there are two real growth areas in grocery retail – discount and convenience and I’ve spent the past 10 years working in the discount sector with Aldi.
“The possibilities in convenience are huge and AF Blakemore has a reputation for being at the forefront of new initiatives.
“I have learned a lot about the sector over the past decade and I now aim to use consumer insights and tactical use of media to create compelling campaigns for Spar.”
