Award-winning dining, retail and leisure concept BOXPARK has today confirmed its first site outside of London with the launch of sibling concept BoxHall in Bristol, scheduled for summer 2022.
The group has just agreed a lease for the stunning historical harbourside location at Welsh Back Bristol’s O&M’s sheds, which will house its first BoxHall site. This development is being delivered by CORDWELL PROPERTY GROUP, and BOXPARK has partnered with Macaulay Sinclair, which have previously worked with Hawksmoor and Dishoom, to deliver the interior design proposals.
Opening in June 2022, BoxHall Bristol is a new and premium F&B-led concept with a modern food hall structure, set to offer high-quality product ranges and carefully-selected, authentic cuisine from local, independent street food traders and restaurant operators in Bristol.
Alongside the outstanding food offer, BoxHall Bristol will also provide a diverse, community-led programme of events in collaboration with local homegrown talent and partners, as well as unique gaming experiences. BoxHall aims to offer an all-day social dining experience including food, drink and events all under one roof.
The latest 20,000sq ft venture will feature seven kitchens with food from only the best local and independent street food traders. There are two external terraces overlooking the waterside and BoxHall will animate Welsh Back with additional seating.
Opportunities for prospective tenants include turn-key kitchen solutions with turnover-only licenses, meaning they can begin trading without the barrier of vast capital outlay. BOXPARK will commence tenant marketing in the later part of 2021.
BOXPARK CEO & founder Roger Wade comments on the new development: “We are thrilled to announce our brand new BoxHall concept launching in Bristol next year. It has been an incredibly difficult year but we remained optimistic during the pandemic and used the time to progress our expansion plans. Our team has worked extremely hard to secure our first site outside of London and this is a huge milestone for the BOXPARK family.
“Now that we’ve signed for the lease on this location, we will be working closely with Macaulay Sinclair on the interior design. BOXPARK has always been an innovator in the F&B industry and this new development demonstrates our investment in continuing to evolve both the brand and the sites we build and operate in.”
CORDWELL PROPERTY GROUP, development director, Tom Wilcox comments on the long awaited regeneration of O&M Sheds: “We are delighted to have signed up BoxHall for their first venture outside London, and to have finally secured a quality Food and Beverage operator who respects the historical significance of these much valued dockside buildings and their surroundings and whose interior design proposals will complement Cordwell’s sensitive regeneration of the site to provide a unique community-based hub for the residents of Bristol.
“Our respective designers have worked hard to bring forward an imaginative yet sensitive scheme unlike any other offer in the City. This collaboration has allowed us to commence work in March on the refurbishment works which together with the stunning interior fitting-out to follow will deliver by June next year, one of the most exciting venues to eat, drink and enjoy the delights of this unique City location.”
Carly Heath, Night Czar for Bristol commented: ‘‘Hospitality is such a huge part of Bristol’s Night Time Economy. It’s encouraging to see ambitious organisations bring exciting new developments to the city that champion Bristol’s fantastic independent food spirit.’’
Macaulay Sinclair director, Mike Sinclair comments on the BoxHall design concept: “The BoxHall concept is a very exciting project for us to design and we are delighted to be involved with the creation of the debut site. Having worked with many well-known multi-site and independent restaurant and bar operators, we aim to create the most imaginative food hall interior to capture the essence of Bristol’s O&M Sheds historical value. Together we will bring a curated social dining experience to a stunning landmark location”.
Unlike BOXPARK developments which focus on placemaking and creating spaces, BoxHall sites will be located in existing buildings within town centres across the UK – most of which will be iconic sites in their respective communities with a strong history and cultural heritage.
BoxHall is part of the group’s wider expansion plans to roll out a mixture of sites both inside and outside of London. BOXPARK’s portfolio currently includes three London sites (Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley), and BoxHall will be a new addition to the company with further locations to be announced later this year.
