BP announces today that Tracey Clements will assume the role of CEO Convenience Europe in the spring. This key appointment comes as bp redefines its convenience business through differentiated customer offers, scaling up new mobility solutions including electrification and investing in digital and data analytics.

Clements: new convenience role

Clements brings with her considerable expertise in retail and customer experience from a varied 25 year career. Most recently she was chief operating officer for Boots UK and Ireland, and before that spent 17 years at grocery retailer Tesco plc, where she held a number of senior positions in Tesco’s Convenience stores, One Stop stores, and with Tesco Clubcard.

Alex Jensen, CEO mobility and convenience, Europe and Southern Africa, said: “We are delighted Tracey is joining the bp team to play a leading role in helping bp redefine the role it plays in the journeys people make, and in our role in food-on-the move and food for later.  We see huge opportunities through our own and partners’ brands, through digital and in the transition to electric.”

BP is on a mission to re-shape the retail experience of the future by meeting changing customer needs. Recognizing that customers on the go want more than fuel, bp is developing its own brand food, like Wild Bean café, and expanding partnerships with retailers like M&S and Rewe to go. It’s also investing in digital to better understand customer needs, personalize offers and create the highly convenient services that customers want.

Ahead of starting her new role, Clements says: “I am looking forward to joining our team and partners, and embracing new ideas, technologies and challenges. Together we will provide the services and experience customers want in the retail sites of the future – transforming our convenience and mobility offer and supporting the energy transition.”
