British Pepper & Spice, one of the leading herb and spice producers in the UK, is launching Chop Chop, Chopped Garlic in white wine vinegar and Chopped Red Chillies in white wine vinegar to the convenience category this month (August 2013). The ready-to-use condiments launch into KeyStore and Sam 99p with the two variants continuing to roll out within the convenience sector throughout the summer.
Chopped Garlic and Chopped Red Chillies are targeting consumers looking to enhance their cooking, and seek ways to make meals easy to prepare. One teaspoon equals one clove of garlic or a medium-sized chilli. No preparation is required; no peeling or chopping with this new convenient format. Chop Chop will make key ingredients, that are often difficult to handle, easy to access always available and keep for up to 28 days in the refrigerator, once opened. They’re also suitable for Vegetarian diets and are free from artificial colours and flavours, or any ingredients or derivatives of animal origin.
Ian Kelland, commercial director, British Pepper & Spice, said: “Chop Chop easy-to-use pre-chopped products are preserved in vinegar, not only increasing their shelf life but also providing customers access to these ingredients in a cost effective and convenient way. The launch of Chop Chop comes as the popularity of home cooking continues to grow the herbs and spice category.”
Products are available in six x 175g easy-to-handle glass jars with stylish black lids. British Pepper & Spice processes and markets herbs and spices and wet condiments to retailers, food manufacturers and food service providers. British Pepper & Spice’s current value is £45m accounting for around one third of the total market.
