Tim Hortons, the iconic Canadian coffee chain, has announced its first British restaurant will open on Argyle Street in central Glasgow, on 2 June. Crowds are expected to gather, hoping to be among the first people to taste Tim Hortons famous coffee and Timbits when the restaurant opens its doors at 9 a.m. BST.

Guests will be greeted by two Canadian “Mounties” and a number of exciting prizes will be up for grabs, including the chance to win a trip for two to Canada. The first 100 Guests will be offered a free breakfast, the first 10 will also receive 50 free Timbits – Tim Hortons signature bite-sized doughnut – every month, for one year. And the first Guest will get free coffee for a full year with their very own bespoke Tims card.

“We’re really excited to open our first Restaurant in Britain and the buzz we’ve been seeing has been unbelievable. With its burgeoning café culture, Glasgow is the ideal spot for our first location and we think Glaswegians will love our great coffee and delicious, freshly made food,” says Gurprit Dhaliwal, COO of Tim Hortons UK and Ireland LTD. “Tim Hortons is about Canadian charm, friendly culture and a strong sense of community and we want to invite everyone to come down and see us as soon as they can.”

The Argyle Street location will be the first to open in Britain, before Tim Hortons takes its famous coffee, delicious baked goods and Canadian charm nationwide over the next 12 months. Modern and cosmopolitan, with a population passionate about delicious food and great coffee, Glasgow is the perfect fit for the first Tim Hortons Restaurant.

Part of the fabric of Canada’s culture, and found on almost every corner throughout the country, Tim Hortons was founded by its namesake, a famous professional ice hockey player who wanted to create cafés where everyone would feel at home. Now it is one of Canada’s most popular and beloved brands. Almost eight out of 10 cups of coffee sold across Canada are served at Tim Hortons and more than 5.3 million Canadians – approximately 15 per cent of the population – visit Tim Hortons daily.

Elías Díaz Sesé, president, Tim Hortons Brand says, “The iconic Tim Hortons brand is known for its signature coffee, baked goods and delicious food all delivered through excellent Guest experiences every day. We are thrilled to be joining the Glasgow community, and we look forward to getting to know our Guests and sharing some of our favourite products with them.”

Across Great Britain, Tim Hortons will offer an extensive menu of drinks including its signature brewed coffee, espresso-based beverages such as lattes and flat whites, and the brand’s classic frozen Iced Capp®. Restaurants will also serve freshly prepared baked goods, and delicious breakfast and lunch items made from 100% quality ingredients.

Great Britain is a key strategic market for Tim Hortons, and the first European country to open its doors to the brand. Responsible for bringing Tim Hortons to Great Britain is the SK Group, an experienced franchise operator.
