Community retailer, Co-op, has announced it’s stepping up as the first grocery retail partner of parkrun, as it renews its commitment to the UK’s largest community physical activity movement.
Co-op has increased from its previous role at supporter level, following three successful years of partnership with parkrun. During the pandemic, Co-op stepped up to support communities across the UK, and the renewal of its partnership early highlights its commitment to the not-for-profit organisation, providing much-needed support during this uncertain time.
With shared values and a commitment to supporting communities, this partnership is a natural fit and together will continue to help create healthier and happier communities through exercise, food and lifestyle. As the exclusive grocery retail partner, Co-op will be offering exclusive discounts and promotions, as well as recipe advice and food inspiration to participants and volunteers pushing the ethical sourcing credentials of its own brand products, such as Fairtrade and 100% British.

Following the government advice and public health guidelines, parkrun paused all of its events across the country in March, and as a staple event for thousands of people in the UK, the organisation is working tirelessly on how it can resume its events safely and bring communities together once again. Through Co-op Membership, the retailer helps people make things happen in communities and works to connect people with likeminded people or with volunteers, organisers, charities, social entrepreneurs and this partnership builds links between parkrun and the community to increase the support across the UK.
