New bloomer
The Co-operative Food is introducing an artisan bread into its in-store bakery range.
Launching into selected stores on 4 September 2013, The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Beetroot and Apple Bloomer is described as a great addition to a cheeseboard, and would also be perfect served as an open sandwich with honey-roasted or Romanov smoked salmon, a dab of horseradish and a dollop of crème fraiche. This earthy-flavoured bread with sweet apple backnotes has bright pink flashes of beetroot throughout – perfect for the more adventurous eater, the Co-operative claims.
The Co-operative said it tasked its most experienced baking suppliers to develop something unusual, unique and utterly delicious – and this pink-flashed bloomer was the winning product. The shape was chosen because bloomer sales are reported to be booming at The Co-operative, as shoppers love the authentic bakery shape and good value–for–money that they provide.
The Truly Irresistible Beetroot and Apple Bloomer which is priced at £1.39, goes beautifully with The Co-operative’s Rich and Creamy Stilton, goat’s cheese, and similar creamy yet flavoursome, cheeses, the retailer said. It is a great all-rounder, and especially perfect with the Christmas cheeseboard to add some colour and sparkle.
