The Co-operative Food is expanding its frozen pizza range with the addition of five varieties said to be perfect for feeding sports’ fans during the summer of sporting events.

The retailer is also introducing a Spicy Meatball Stuffed Crust Pizza and doughballs with Garlic Butter, also ideal for sharing, it said.

And the Co-operative Food is reports it is warming up for a fantastic Wimbledon (25 June 2012) with a range of products and offers in store.

From 13 June 2012, The Co-operative frozen pizza range is being revamped with new additions – The Co-operative Stonebaked Mexican Pizza, Stonebaked Meat Feast, Deep Pan Pepperoni, Thin and Crispy Cheese Feast, and Thin and Crispy Ham and Pineapple. These will join the other existing favourites, which have all been given a fresh new look and improved recipes.

Retailing from £1.50, the new recipes feature three pizza bases – stonebaked, deep pan and thin and crispy. 

Kate Jones, head of product development at The Co-operative Food, said: “In 2011, The Co-operative was named Convenience Retailer of the Year for frozen pizza at the Pizza and Pasta (PAPA) Awards, for the fourth year running, and we are proud to boost our excellent range with these new additions. As well as being convenient and quick, the pizzas offer some exciting new flavours, which we hope our customers will love.”

The Co-operative Taste the Passion 12in Spicy Meatball Stuffed Crust Pizza and 40 Doughballs with Garlic Butter are now available in stores nationwide.

The retailer’s Wimbledon-inspired offers include British premium strawberries at half price, £2.00 (for 300g punnets). These include The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Ava Strawberries, which are grown in East Scotland and chosen for their delicious sweet flavour and pleasant aroma; and the English-grown, Truly Irresistible Eve’s Delight Strawberries. 

Additionally, all of The Co-operative’s standard strawberries are half price and British, with varieties such as Elsanta, Sonata and Sweet Eve available. These include strawberries grown on The Co-operative’s farm in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. 

Summer berries such as raspberries and blueberries are also half price at £2.00 a punnet. According to the retailer, these soft fruits can be teamed with The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Meringue Nests and Häagen Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream – both of which are also on offer – to make a great dessert.
