Co-operative has best banger

The Co-operative has scooped the Best Sausage award at the annual SuperMeat & Fish Awards.

The prize was awarded to the retailer for its own-brand Truly Irresistible Gluten Free Sausages.

The SuperMeat & Fish Awards aim to reward excellence in supermarket retailing of meat and fish – at both store level and in manufacture.

The Co-operative’s Truly Irresistible Gluten Free Sausages are made from British Hampshire Breed Outdoor Reared Pork. According to the Co-operative, they have a high meat content, a hint of pepper and a meaty and succulent texture, while being completely gluten free.

The Co-operative was also awarded Best Sustainable Product for its Breaded Icelandic Line Caught Cod portions. The Co-operative Icelandic Line Caught Cod portions are responsibly sourced from a fishery that uses traditional methods which minimise environmental impact. The Co-operative introduced its Responsible Fish Sourcing Policy in 2008.
