Co-operative shopper wins Mini Cooper in Best of British contest

A Co-operative Food customer is celebrating the start of 2012 with a new car, after winning the food retailer’s Best of British competition.

Paula Jones, from Beighton, near Sheffield, won a Union Jack-branded Mini Cooper, after buying potatoes in her local Co-operative food store and entering the competition online.

David Morris, category buyer for The Co-operative Food, said: “Our Best of British competition helped to raise awareness of the benefits of buying British produce, and we are delighted to present Paula with a new car – after all, there’s nothing more British than a Union Jack-branded Mini Cooper.”

The competition, created by Lifestyle Instore, highlighted The Co-operative’s support for British growers, and its commitment to sourcing as much of its fresh produce range from the UK as possible. Customers entered the competition online, using a code printed on fresh British produce, including potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and Iceberg lettuces, with the winner drawn at random.
