Coconuts Organic the vegan ice cream made famous on BBC Dragon’s Den, has announced a significant step in the growth of the business as they secure a listing with retailer Marks & Spencer Food.
From 2nd June, Coconuts Organic will be available in selected Marks & Spencer Food Halls around the UK, with two of their fabulous flavours, Choc Orange Swirl and Double Caramel. The launch which comes just as the weather is heating up, is yet another achievement for the Cornwall-based business, who also have listings with Tesco, Morrisons and OCADO.
Launched in 2015 by entrepreneur Cecily Mills, Coconuts Organic has quickly become a dominant player in the free-from category, partly because of the insatiable appetite for vegan products, but also because the products taste just like their dairy counterparts.
Commenting on this latest milestone, CEO and founder, Cecily Mills said:
“Securing a listing with Marks & Spencer Food is a fantastic milestone for Coconuts Organic. I started my (pre-entrepreneurship) career with Marks & Spencer and recall very clearly the early days, dreaming of my products securing shelf space in the UKs most prestigious high street retailer. I am incredibly proud that 2 of our products will now be available in stores. At a time when good news is thin on the ground, not least for SME’s, we are very excited to celebrate this next step for Coconuts Organic, and look forward to a very busy summer ahead.”
In addition to the Marks & Spencer listing, Coconuts Organic is currently available UK-wide, via Tesco, Ocado, Morrisons and in independent stores and cafes via two national distributors. Internationally, the product is available in Dubai and Cyprus. The brand is also developing its international expansion plans, with a particular focus on the Middle East and Asia.
