commercetools, the next-generation commerce software company, has powered a brand new experiential store being launched today by the world’s trusted market leader in Manuka Honey, Comvita New Zealand.
Coinciding with today’s Comvita physical store front opening today, the company used commercetools’ APIs to create a headless checkout experience for its new virtual store, along with a cloud native, completely integrated Point of Sale (POS) solution, all within six weeks.
While the speed to market was crucial for Comvita’s brand new virtual store, it also needed a bespoke online presence that could address its unique transactional requirements while also presenting a seamless consumer journey across both the online and physical stores.
Explaining the decision to collaborate with commercetools, David Bathgate, Head of Marketing, Comvita New Zealand said, “From our co-op roots to our now world famous UMF certified Manuka honey, our heritage and brand are of the utmost importance to us. So when we explored how to handle transactions for our new virtual store, a one-size fits all approach wasn’t an option – even though we were up against a tight deadline.”
“As we’d already completed some great proof of concept work with commercetools, we could take advantage of that to build a working solution specific to our unique needs in just weeks. The flexibility of the solution, deepest POS integration and very fast implementation and rollout capabilities meant we were able to meet our deadline with a solution we could be truly proud of.”
“Our toolkit is perfectly suited for easily and quickly integrating headless commerce, and speed was particularly important in order for Comvita to meet the growing global demand for what is one the most unique and beneficial forms of honey in the world1. At the same time, to maintain a sharp competitive edge brands are looking for more than generic, off-the-shelf commerce solutions, in favour of composable commerce that provides the flexibility to orchestrate a completely unique online brand experience that’s specific to their business,” said Joshua Emblin, Territory Director, APAC for commercetools in New Zealand.
Since its March 2020 Australian launch, commercetools has gained solid momentum in Australia with its cloud-native, headless and API-first commerce platform as businesses shift from existing tech stacks in favour of more agile platforms. This includes signing major new wins in the retail industry including iconic retailer Kmart, as well as Koala and Cargo Crew.
