Saputo Dairy UK’s Country Life butter brand is celebrating its 50th birthday with a consumer giveaway on Facebook.
The celebratory giveaway, which will be live on Facebook from Monday 14 September, offers consumers the chance to win one of five luxury picnic hampers, each worth £160. Taking consumers on a nostalgic trip down memory lane, the contest creative will see the return of the original Country Life Buttermen, who first featured in Country Life TV ads in the early 1980s picnicking in the Great British countryside. Incorporating a selection of premium branded groceries, and of course Country Life butter, the luxury hampers up for grabs will enable five lucky Country Life fans to emulate the Buttermen and enjoy their own indulgent picnic in the British countryside.
First created in 1970 the Country Life brand remains today a much loved household staple in many British homes. While the brand’s advertising has evolved over the years, British heritage has remained a cornerstone of its identity. For 50 years deliciously creamy Country Life has been made with only the finest quality British milk, sourced exclusively from British dairy farms, and Red Tractor assured. A proud supporter of the Prince’s Countryside Fund, Country Life supports a sustainable future for British farmers, and is the only butter brand to bear a Royal Warrant, in recognition of our supply to Her Majesty the Queen, further testimony to its long standing as a provider of quality butter
Emilie Grundy, butters & spreads marketing controller at Saputo Dairy UK, comments: “Turning 50 years old is a real milestone birthday for the Country Life brand, of which we are justly proud! As the UK’s No 1 British-born butter brand, we remain to this day true to our British countryside heritage, which sits at the heart of our brand identity and consumer positioning.
“Our ‘Britishness’ has been articulated through a number of memorable advertising campaigns across our five decade history, many of which live on in the hearts and minds of our Country Life consumers. In celebration of our special day we therefore felt it fitting to go back to our early beginnings and bring back the Country Life Buttermen to help announce our birthday competition on Facebook. We hope the memory, together with our indulgent hamper give-away, will spread a little moment of joy for our fans as we look forward to the next decade of the Country Life brand story.”
Country Life, currently valued at ££55.3m, remains a household staple bought by 18% of UK households.
The give-away will be live from Monday 14 September until Thursday 24 September. The five lucky winners will be contacted by Country Life on Thursday 24 September to claim their prize.
