Cranfield launches two new masters’ programmes in retail and management

Cranfield School of Management is launching two new specialist masters to its graduate programmes portfolio.  

The full-time MSc in Management and MSc in Retail Management will commence in September 2013.

The decision to launch the new programmes follows a lengthy strategic review to identify growth opportunities across the portfolio of graduate programmes offered by Cranfield School of Management, the university management school said.

Melyvn Peters, director of graduate programmes at Cranfield School of Management, said: “In keeping with our mission to ‘transform knowledge into action’ our aim is to offer a portfolio of programmes that meet the needs of a rapidly growing pre-experience, post-graduate, business education market.  It is clear from our own research and independent research that this market is growing much faster than any other.

“By launching the new masters programmes, we will be able to tap into this growing market, and gain further access to top graduates from leading universities in Europe and around the world.  The new programmes will allow us to establish broader relationships with key recruiters, increase our alumni community around the world, and attract top faculty to the School.”

The MSc in Management is a full-time 13-month programme designed for recent graduates with little or no previous professional experience and will include a three-month internship at the end.

“The launch of the MSc in Management will enable Cranfield to become an even bigger player in the global business education market” said Professor Paul Baines, director of the new programme. 

“The programme will equip ambitious graduates looking for their first professional management role with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to succeed in business. Students will gain a sound understanding of core management theories, concepts, tools and techniques and how to apply them creatively in real-life situations.

“A unique element of the programme is a three-month internship, providing valuable work experience and the opportunity for students to really put the theory into practice.”

The MSc in Retail Management is a full-time one-year programme. Course director Dr Tamira King said: “This is a distinctive new programme which has been co-created with retail experts to support the developing needs of the retail sector which currently employs over 3m people in the UK alone.

“As the retail sector becomes increasingly globalised and competitive, there is a need for professionally trained retail managers, marketers, buyers and merchandisers who can not only solve today’s retail problems but who can also anticipate tomorrow’s challenges. We have been working very closely with retail experts to determine the requirements needed to support the development of the next generation of retail leaders.”

The tuition fees for the MSc in Management are £15,000 for EU students and £19,000 for international students and for the MSc in Retail Management, £11,000 for EU students and £17,000 for international students.
