Deliveroo, the leading food delivery company, has announced the appointment of Eric French as chief marketplace officer.
Eric will have responsibility for the newly-created Marketplace Org within Deliveroo. Eric will have responsibility for the Rider Operations, Customer Care, Restaurants, Grocery and Editions functions. He will report directly to the CEO, Will Shu, and also sit on the executive team. Eric started at Deliveroo this month.
Eric joins Deliveroo from Amazon, where he worked for over 15 years, holding a variety of finance and operating roles. Most recently, Eric was the Vice President for Amazon’s US Consumables business. In this role, he had responsibility for category leadership, product, technology, and private brands across the household, beauty, baby, and personal care product lines. Throughout his time at Amazon, Eric has worked on a range of businesses including books, Fulfillment by Amazon, clothing & shoes, and the launch of new programs such as Amazon Family and Subscribe & Save.
This comes at a time when Deliveroo is growing rapidly. The company now works with 140,000 restaurants and 110,000 riders across 12 markets.
The company is focusing on areas including expanding its Editions delivery-only kitchens globally; increasing choice and selection for consumers, working with more restaurants and grocery stores; increasing affordability for customers by extending its Plus subscription programme; investing in new tools to help restaurants grow their business; and continuing to provide riders with the flexible work they value.
