Parcel delivery company DPD has won its first industry awards of the year, topping two categories at the prestigious MetaPack Delivery Excellence Awards.
The awards recognised the firm’s track record in innovation and customer services.
MetaPack is the UK’s leading delivery management company and the awards aim to celebrate outstanding performance in the e-commerce industry.
There was great news for DPD’s fast-growing international business as it scooped the Best Cross Border Delivery Initiative category. The award recognised DPD’s ability to ‘enable seamless delivery of international orders, providing a positive experience at every customer touch-point.’
DPD also won Best Provider of Outstanding Service for ‘sustaining an excellent level of service efficiency and dedication to exceeding the customer’s expectations.’
DPD CEO Dwain McDonald said: “I am thrilled to win these two categories. These awards are highly credible because the winners are voted for by the very retailers who pay our wages. To win two awards is an outstanding achievement and reflects the expertise and enthusiasm of all our people across the DPD business.”
The awards were organised by MetaPack who now enable 80 of the UK’s top 100 retailers to deliver over 300 million parcels to and from over 200 countries, touching more than 100 million consumers worldwide.
DPD is the fastest growing major parcel delivery company in the UK and has created over 2,000 new jobs in the last two years as a result of an unprecedented UK expansion. In that period, the company has opened 18 new or replacement depots, including nine state-of-the-art, purpose built facilities. Meanwhile, construction of DPD’s new £100m parcel hub at Hinckley in the East Midlands is now complete. The facility, which will be the largest of its kind in Europe, is on schedule to open in 2015, creating another 1,000 permanent full-time jobs.
