Artisan sauce producer, Dr Trouble, is launching limited edition bottles of its African Lemon Chilli and Oak Smoked Chilli sauces, in collaboration with the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF).
The IAPF is rethinking the future of conservation and Dr Trouble is committed to supporting its efforts. With each sale of the handmade, all-natural sauce, $1.50 will go towards IAPF’s hugely important anti-poaching and conservation initiatives across Southern Africa – the home of Dr Trouble.
With many of Africa’s key species including elephants, reaching levels near extinction, IAPF’s Akashinga (The Brave Ones) is the all-female anti-poaching unit in Zimbabwe that is facing poachers, saving wildlife and building sustainable communities. This women-only team of rangers, who were subject to abuse or marginalisation, is revolutionising the way animals are protected and communities are empowered — and its members’ own lives are being transformed.
This radical, new and highly effective weapon against poaching was the focus of a National Geographic film that has won several awards in film festivals and has had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.
As the global Covid-19 pandemic continues and resources become increasingly scarce, wildlife have become especially vulnerable to poachers, so the Akashinga is more crucial now than ever.
By partnering with Dr Trouble to make limited edition bottles, the IAPF hopes to raise funds to support the much-needed expansion of the highly-effective Akashinga model across Africa.
Dr Trouble sauces are handmade in small batches and fermented in glass flagons for 100 days on an isolated farm in Northern Zimbabwe, using local ingredients sourced by rural villagers – the Oak Smoked Chilli and the African Lemon Chilli sauces are made using a natural recipe, which has been in the co-founder’s family for 125 years.

“We create the sauces on my farm in the heart of the upper Zambezi valley in Zimbabwe and we’re surrounded by thick bush and spectacular wildlife, where we carry out our own anti-poaching patrols and educate the local population about the importance of the wildlife – taking inspiration from IAPF’s founder, Damien Mander and his team who are pushing the boundaries and creating lasting change, all to protect the majestic animals from poachers.

Available on www.drtroublesauce.co.uk from W/C 25th January 2021, the limited-edition bottles will be sold in specially designed bottles and tubes, for £10 each. The African Lemon Chilli is medium heat with a clean lemon flavour and notes of ginger, mango masala and a touch of garlic. While the Oak Smoked Chilli sauce is mild with a full-bodied oak smoke, ideal to add to warming, winter recipes for extra flavour.
Both sauces are vegan friendly and gluten-free, with no additives or preservatives.
