Dunelm has announced the launch of a brand-new Virtual Shopping service, making shopping from the comfort of your own home more convenient and effortless than ever before.
Over recent months, our homes have become more central to our lives, having transformed into offices and classrooms to workout spaces and date night restaurants. This virtual shopping experience helps Dunelm customers make their home on-trend and stylish, all without setting foot inside a store.
This virtual service is the perfect shopping alternative to those still unable to go out due to shielding, those who feel apprehensive about entering stores again and for people who are trying to juggle the challenges this new way of life has brought and are looking at ways to save time. As well as a means of getting Dunelm products delivered straight to their door, during the Virtual Shopping experience the customer will also receive expert interiors advice and product selection guidance tailored to their individual home needs
The service comprises four simple steps, making it an accessible and welcoming platform for all. The first step requires the customer to book an appointment online, where they will be prompted to share information around their style inspiration or products they are seeking. This is then followed by a personal video call appointment with a friendly Shopping Companion. During this appointment, the companion will guide the customer around the store showcasing Dunelm’s latest products, designs and trends, and delving into the customer’s interior visions whilst selecting products that perfectly match their needs. As a trusted home expert, the Shopping Companions are happy to help with any customer queries, tapping into their breadth of interiors knowledge.
After the appointment, customers are sent a complete shopping list of all items discussed to purchase at their own leisure, either for home delivery or contact-free Click and Collect to their nearest store. Ahead of rolling out across all Dunelm stores, the Virtual Shopping service is currently being trialled at Redditch and Erdington stores, yet customers nationwide are still able to utilise the service by simply ordering their chosen items to their nearest store for collection or for home delivery.

In addition to the Virtual Shopping service, the Dunelm Made to Measure service now includes online appointments. Customers are able to request a consultation, access measuring tips to achieve the perfect fit and browse fabrics, all online. Additional contact-free ways to shop have also been introduced which includes Click and Collect deliveries straight to your car, all while a 2m distance is maintained.
Cementing its commitment to the health and safety of all customers visiting their stores and abiding by social distancing guidelines, Dunelm has implemented a number of safe shopping measures throughout all stores, which includes:
- Reduced store customer capacities
- Regular sanitisation of trolley handles and card machines
- Increased cleaning of store surfaces
- Hand sanitiser stations throughout stores
- Two-metre floor markings near store entrances and till queues
- Screens installed at till points
