Dutch brewer Bavaria has made two appointments to its account management team.
David Parkinson joins the team as national account manage and Matthew Baines takes up the newly formed role of national account manager wholesale.
Parkinson joins from Indesit UK and has more than 10 years’ experience in the drinks sector, having worked for Scottish & Newcastle and Heineken across a variety of sales and marketing roles. He will be responsible for developing Bavaria UK’s category strategy and build on the success Bavaria has enjoyed in the UK in recent years.
Parkinson said: “This is a great opportunity for me to work with a growing business that is beginning to realise the promise of its strong brand strategy here in the UK. I will be working closely with our customers to provide recommendations to help drive their sales, whilst developing joint marketing initiatives to further grow Bavaria’s brands.”
Baines said: “I have over 15 years’ experience working with national accounts like Weetabix and Highland Spring. My remit is to reflect the success our brands have enjoyed in grocery multiples in the cash & carry market, which I believe holds huge potential for our range of innovative products.”
Bavaria claims it has enjoyed huge success in the non alcohol beer, low alcohol beer (NABLAB) category and is the only brewer to offer consumers genuine choice in this increasingly popular sector. The range includes Bavaria 0.0% Alcohol Free Beer, an alcohol free wheat beer, Bavaria 0.0% Wit and the recently released Bavaria 0.9% Shandy.
Marketing executive Danny Wan has also joined the team as it expands to cope with increased marketing activity across all channels. Bavaria Shandy has recently been the official sponsor of ITV’s hit comedy Benidorm and a loyalty scheme for the Bavaria 8.6 has just been launched to support independent retailers.
