Ex Inter Link Foods boss joins online gourmet farmers’ market, Farmison & Co

Weeks after a further round of funding, ex Inter Link Foods boss, Alwin Thompson, has joined online gourmet farmers’ market Farmison & Co as the company continues to go from strength-to-strength seeing record sales and introducing new product ranges.

Inter Link Foods was the rising star of the British baking industry having grown through organic growth and acquisitions to take a place in the UK’s top industrial bakers. Thompson started Inter Link Foods in 1994 after buying the loss-making cake and pie maker Crossfield Foods of Blackburn. He developed Inter Link Foods into the country’s second largest cake maker through strong organic growth and a series of acquisitions, including the Soreen malt loaf business in Trafford Park and expansion in Poland. Inter Link Foods floated in 1998 and was named AIM company of the year in 2003.

Thompson will bring his business and management experience to Farmison & Co as it launches its own bakery offering and continues to lead the way in providing interesting, tasty produce sourced from over 75 of the UK’s leading farms and producers, the company said. Farmison & Co is claimed to be the UK’s only online gourmet farmers’ market, offering the largest selection of rare and exclusive meat and cheeses with new product ranges for 2013 including bakery and pantry produce.

John Pallagi, founder of Farmison & Co, said: “Since inception consumers have responded to us with great enthusiasm. Their request for bakery and pie products led us to Alwin, and we are excited about the guidance he will offer in this sector.”

Farmison & Co said it supports farmers who struggle to share and express their great produce nationwide, providing them with a fair deal and platform to deliver it to the door in prime condition, in effect bringing local produce to the nation.

As well as sourcing and supplying great produce from British Farms – including the widest range of premium Great British heritage meat (both native and rare breed) – farmhouse kitchens and producers, Farmison & Co states the provenance and origin of all its produce to ensure its customers know exactly what they’re getting each and every time.
