Micros, a leading provider of technology for the retail and hospitality industries, is providing its Cloud POS solution to support the launch of a pioneering card and gift store concept, iCandy.

With two stores opening before Christmas and a further five planned by February 2013, iCandy said it is looking to bring a fresh offer to the high street and wanted a POS solution that offers mobility, flexibility and scalability. The ability to provide central control with real-time reporting to enable informed decision making and business agility was also essential, the company said.

The system needed to have all the capability of a mature POS solution that was able to provide up to the minute information on trading with a real-time view of what was happening, said Micros. It also had to have the ability for iCandy to chose MICROS Cloud POS, a pay-as-you-go Software as a Service (SaaS) based point of sale solution, where the entire application can be run in a browser on a tablet, smart phone or traditional POS as a single POS or a number of POS in various locations.

As a cloud-based solution, both the application and entered data are held in a secure PCI compliant central environment, hosted by Micros.

Clinton Lewin, managing director of iCandy, said: “Having run this kind of business before,, I know that being able to understand your customers, your trading and subsequently reacting to conditions in real-time will help us to keep ahead of our competitors. The hosted model also means we can concentrate investment on expanding the business.”

Helen Slaven, senior vice president EAME, Micros, said: “Micros is delighted to be supporting such a great new venture. Cloud POS, whilst new to the market, benefits from our extensive experience of providing POS solutions to the retail market for over 25 years and is hosted in our own secure, managed service environment that supports many of the globes largest retailers.”
