Family fashion brand, PEP&CO to open 50 shop-in-shops in Poundland stores

PEP&CO, Britain’s fastest-growing family fashion phenomenon, today revealed it was planning to open 50 ‘shop-in-shops’ in Poundland over the next 100 days.

The stores – offering a full range of women’s, men’s and kids’ fashion – will open inside stores run by its sister company Poundland and join the 60-plus locations where customers can already find a local PEP&CO.

The rapid rollout over the next 100 days will see PEP&CO almost double in size, and echoes its launch onto Britain’s high streets in the summer of 2015 when it opened 50 standalone stores in just 50 days.

Recruitment is already underway and Poundland expects to recruit around five to six new colleagues at each new store, with 300 jobs being created in total.  Existing Poundland colleagues will be offered an opportunity to apply for the roles if they have the right skills and wish to increase their existing hours.

There will also be a further 12 jobs created as PEP&CO builds the team at its Watford support centre.

Within the next phase of PEP&CO’s growth, the value fashion chain will break new ground, bringing the brand to parts of the UK – Northern Ireland, West Yorkshire, North Wales, East Anglia and London – that have had no standalone store.  

The 50 ‘shop-in-shops’ will feature PEP&CO’s full range – but not at the expense of Poundland’s existing offer.  Through clever use of existing space, these larger Poundland stores have the capacity to accommodate a full PEP&CO without reducing existing ranges.

PEP&CO’s managing director, Adrian Mountford, is anticipating that the new shop-in-shops will have a huge impact for fashion conscious shoppers.

“By bringing PEP&CO to the largest Poundland stores we’re giving people access to the brand much more rapidly than we could on our own”.

The launch of PEP&CO is one of the ways Poundland is being refreshed and repowered for its seven million customers each week.
