OenoGroup has welcomed Gabriele Gorelli MW as its new brand ambassador for Italy, effective from 10 January 2022.
In February 2021, Gorelli became the first Italian Master of Wine, a nation with indisputable vinous riches and an exciting array of new winemaking stars. Raised in Montalcino, Gabriele’s wine roots can be traced back to his grandfather, the smallest renowned producer of Brunello di Montalcino. His upbringing surrounded by knowledge of viniculture has led him to establish himself as an esteemed brand builder and a genuine expert on the wines of Tuscany. With over 15 years of marketing and educational experience, Gabriele has built extensive connections with wineries, importers and fine dining restaurants within and outside of Italy. An avid traveler, he is fluent in English, French, Italian, as well as conversational German.
“It is fundamental that a complex country such as Italy, from an ampelographic, historical and stylistic point of view, can count on an ambassador representing it in the international scene,” said Gorelli MW.
For this very reason, Gorelli takes upon himself to represent his country on the world’s wine stage. Not only was he the editor of the Italian section of Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia 2020, but he is also regularly featured as a presenter and judge at national and international wine competitions. Since becoming a Master of Wine, he has taken on several consultancies that will deepen his networks within Italy and globally allowing him to take his knowledge of Italy to a wider audience.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have Gabriele, with his numerous talents, join us as an Ambassador as it’s a positive endorsement of our vision and strategy”, says Justin Knock MW, director of wine for the company. “Gabriele’s ambition and expertise in Italian wine are a valuable addition to OenoGroup, as we continue to grow our partnerships with the world’s most sought-after wineries. Italy is a core region for our company, close to our heart for both producers and collectors. We are excited about the opportunities to deliver world-class tastings within Italy with Gabriele’s expertise, and use his knowledge to identify up-and-coming winemaking talent that we can bring into our group. We also value his marketing acumen as we continue our journey in luxury wine and luxury wine experiences. He is a natural statesman and a wonderful asset for the Italian wine industry in its entirety.”
