Ginsters responds to demand for healthier options with lower calorie lines

In response to consumer demand for healthier options, the UK’s number 1 savoury pastry brand, Ginsters of Cornwall, introduces two new products, both with less than 375 calories. The Ginsters Katsu Chicken Slice has only 370 calories and the Ginsters Piri Piri Chicken Slice contains just 349 calories.

Ginsters Katsu Chicken Slice, with only 370 calories, has a fragrant blend of creamy coconut milk with sweet spring onions and a hint of garlic in a Katsu curry sauce, made with 100% British chicken. The perfect balance of Cumin, Turmeric, Ginger and Coconut pack this latest recipe full of flavour.

The Ginsters Piri Piri Chicken Slice contains just 349 calories and combines 100% British chicken marinated with a rich and spicy tomato sauce, smoked paprika, lemon zest and sun dried tomato puree. The sauce is finished with a warm hint of chipotle chilli, which enhances the smoky depth of the slice. A mixture of punchy paprika, chilli spices and citrus notes help transport you to a Portuguese sun terrace.

Ginsters managing director Kieran Hemsworth comments: “We appreciate that our customers want healthy options that still deliver maximum taste and flavour and we’re determined to respond to this demand. We want to introduce food-to-go options that are totally delicious, can be enjoyed on-the-move or at home and contain only quality British produce with the added reassurance of our Cornish heritage”.

Ginsters, which has been baking savoury pastries in Cornwall since the company was founded by dairy farmer Geoffrey Ginster in 1967, now bakes over three million savoury pastries a week in Callington, Cornwall, including the flagship product the Original Cornish Pasty. Ginsters products are sold across the length and breadth of the UK in all major multiples.

Ginsters Katsu Chicken Slice  and Ginsters Piri Piri Chicken Slice will be available in selected supermarkets from 9 April with a RRP of £1.70.
