Shoppers embrace reopened services like changing rooms at John Lewis Oxford Street

Queues formed outside John Lewis shops as customers embraced much-needed, newly-reopened services – some of which have been closed for more than a year – from children’s shoe fittings to using changing rooms to check the perfect fit for new season fashions. Nursery travel appointments have been particularly popular this morning as customers  sought advice from expert Nursery Partners on pushchairs and car seats as they prepare to be ‘out and about’ in the coming weeks.

Over the last few weeks, as the nation geared up for the easing of lockdown restrictions, shoppers have been busy preparing their wardrobes with sales of dresses up 209%, handbags +102% and jumpsuits sales up +162%.

Pippa Wicks, executive director of John Lewis, said: “It was fantastic to welcome customers back into our shops again today and to see so many people excited to be out and about again. Our expert Partners have been on hand to deliver much longed-for services and are busy giving customers the inspiration they need for life after lockdown.  We’ve also launched a new own brand range called ANYDAY today which offers the same style and quality that customers know from John Lewis, at prices they wouldn’t expect.”

In-store Click & Collect services have resumed in all John Lewis shops, in addition to pick-up locations in Waitrose, Co-op and Booths – taking the total number of collect locations to over 900.
