Global lifestyle brand, Cath Kidston, to open first stores in India

Cath Kidston Group, the global lifestyle brand, announces it is to open its first stores in India, marking its first entry into the country.

Cath Kidston Group plans to open an initial two stores in India in Delhi with the first stores opening in Ambience Mall Gurgaon and Select City Walk Saket in Delhi in early Autumn 2016. Store openings in Mumbai will follow, with a first store there planned to open in Grand Galleria, High Street Phoenix.

The stores will be franchises and Cath Kidston has formed an agreement with Planet Retail Holdings Private Limited as its franchise partner. The Group will start with three stores and plans to increase this number further over the next few years.

Kenny Wilson, CEO of Cath Kidston, said: “India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world and we are very excited about bringing Cath Kidston to India. We believe our affordable, fun, British, vintage-inspired clothes, bags, childrenswear and homeware will appeal to people in India of all ages. We do a lot of homework before we enter a new market and we already know from the growing online sales that people in India like our products. From this, we think that India could potentially become a very successful and important market for us.

“We have had a great first half of 2016 with six months of straight, positive like-for-like sales in the UK, reflecting the strength and success of our Spring Summer 2016 range. The success of the strategy to globalise the brand is working and the Cath Kidston footprint keeps growing with more stores being opened in Japan and the Middle East this year. “
