Graze.com, the direct-to-consumer retailer of healthier, portion controlled online snacks, has today announced that it has hired Michael Farry as people director to oversee the company’s rapidly expanding workforce.
Farry joins graze.com having spent two and a half years as HR Director at Europe’s leading online personalised publishing group, Photobox, driving a progressive people and culture program in support of a period of significant change and growth.
Anthony Fletcher, CEO of graze.com, said: “We are delighted Michael Farry is joining the graze.com family. His wealth of experience and expertise will be critical to helping us ensure we keep our professional edge. We have grown from a few people working from a bedroom to almost 500 employees in six years and this accelerated growth needs to be carefully managed.”
Graze.com is a £52m turnover company operating in both the UK and US. Since the launch in the US in December 2013, the company has been hiring a new employee almost every day. Farry will help carefully manage this U.S. expansion as well as recruiting talent from the technology and food sectors to capitalise on the exciting opportunities at the intersection of these two fascinating markets. In fact specialist data scientists and even astrophysicists are employed to perfect the unique technology behind the business.
Graze.com’s internal structure is refreshingly flat, with Anthony Fletcher believing in the “meritocracy of reason” – the notion that a member of staff’s seniority does not determine the validity and value of their ideas.
Farry said: “graze is a business I have long admired and is clearly going places. My challenge, which I am very excited about, will be to retain the unique graze.com start-up ethos as the company grows.”
