Halfords’ Garage of The Year Competition returns for 2022

Following its success last year, Halfords Garage of the Year competition will be returning for 2022, where one lucky winner will be crowned the owner of the UK’s best home garage. The competition, running for the second consecutive year, is part of Halfords Partnership with British Touring Car Championship Team – Halfords Racing with Cataclean.

The pandemic saw an increase in Brits kitting out their home garage and so Halfords is on the hunt for the one that ‘brakes’ all boundaries to crown it 2022’s best. Whether you’re bringing an old car back to life,  improving a car’s spec, or have simply created a fantastic workspace, Halfords wants to see it all.

To enter, participants must explain what the use, purpose, and creation of their private garage space is with accompanying images. This will then be judged by Halfords technicians, along with Daniel Rowbottom and Gordon Shedden – Halfords Racing with Cataclean professional racing drivers. With Halfords technicians’ extensive knowledge of motoring mechanics and what makes a well-designed garage they are in great stead to judge entrants’ home garages.

The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £5,000,  a Halfords Ultimate Garage Bundle, and a 10-year membership to Halfords Motoring Club. The two runners up will receive a £250 Halfords gift voucher to be spent online and instore.

Andy Randall, chief operating officer at Halfords, said: “Since 2021, we are now the operator of more than 600 full-service garages across the UK,  so we are well aware of the importance of having a practical, well-equipped garage that functions just how you need it to. We can’t wait to see how people have designed their home equivalents and what one gets crowned the Garage of the Year.”

Alex Young, 2021’s Garage of The Year winner, said: “Winning the competition last year was such an honour. My garage has been in my family for 35 years, has seen loads of classic Ford cars get a well-needed revamp, and holds memories dear to my heart. The cash prize and garage bundle helped me to elevate my garage even further and meant I could put even more blood, sweat and tears into improving my motors. I can’t wait to see who wins this year!”.

Submissions are open at the Halfords website until 11:59pm on 12th July 2022. In August, a shortlist of the top five submissions will be announced, with the final winner and runners up announced after that.
