Harrods opens new beauty concept at intu Lakeside

The first of Harrod’s brand new stand-alone beauty stores, H Beauty, opened its doors to shoppers at intu Lakeside on 17 September 2020.

H Beauty, which occupies 23,000sq ft, is an exciting new concept from Harrods, designed to disrupt the UK beauty retail sector. It offers a range of premium and luxury brands in an experiential store, with onsite treatments, consultations and demonstrations available. It also includes a champagne bar.

The store hosts a mix of traditional, long-established beauty brands, alongside newer, innovative and digitally-led names. Among those stocked are Chanel, La Prairie, Creed, Huda Beauty, 111Skin, Uoma and Iconic London.

The store and all services have been designed to allow for social distancing, and an extensive set of health and safety measures are in place to ensure visitors’ well-being. This includes sophisticated footfall counting technology, sanitising stations, Perspex screens and the provision of samples or disposable single-dip testers, should shoppers wish to try products.

There are also ‘magic mirrors’ – allowing customers to virtually try on a host of different products – and send the images direct to their phone. Purchases can then be made with the click of a button.

A Click & Collect service will be available from late September, for customers making purchases at Harrods online.

intu Lakeside is a leading retail and leisure destination in the South East, which typically sees around 20 million shopper visits per year. It recently completed a £72m award-winning leisure extension which brought well-known names such as Hollywood Bowl and Puttshack to the centre. The extension takes the total centre size to 1.6m sq ft. The centre has over 250 shops in total, with leading brands such as Zara, H&M, Hugo Boss and Superdry also holding space.

Kate Grant, speaking on behalf of intu Lakeside, commented: “We are incredibly excited to welcome H Beauty to the centre. Harrods is an iconic name, and the beauty sector is going from strength to strength at present. We therefore believe the new concept will thrive at a high footfall location like intu Lakeside.”

“This announcement sits amongst a host of other leasing deals recently completed or in the pipeline, as the retail sector continues to recover, and confidence grows. Physical retail remains key to brands’ success and experiential stores like H Beauty are proving a particular draw for customers.”
