Holland’s creates limited edition commemorative pie for local war heroes

A tribute to this year’s First World War commemorations, Holland’s, produce of pies and pastries for over 160 years, has created a limited edition commemorative pie, especially for local war heroes in the North West.

Holland’s is asking its fans to name local heroes who they think would like a tasty Holland’s pie delivery this November. There are 10 dozen of these specially created pies available for war heroes in the region. Pie-enthusiasts are asked to share their suggestions on the Holland’s Facebook page or via email at HollandsHeroes@hollandspies.co.uk. Entrants should include a short explanation on who they are nominating for a Holland’s commemorative pie delivery and why. If the entry is via email, then entrants should included their own name, address and contact number too.

Claimed to be fit for a hero, the pie is based on a post-war recipe, which uses corned beef. The pie features the finest British beef, corned beef and seasoned potatoes, onions and carrots; all wrapped in Holland’s unique, golden shortcrust pastry – also created using a well-guarded, secret technique dating back to a post-war recipe.

Holland’s said its wealth of knowledge and years of tradition have been used throughout the creation and cooking process of this one-off pie, to ensure the final taste is pure perfection.
