Lifestyle Outlets signs British chocolatier, Hotel Chocolat, as the latest brand to join Gloucester Quays, the destination continues to buck the national retail trend of decline and closures thanks to its rising footfall, sales and new openings.
Peter Harris, co-founder and development director at Hotel Chocolat, explains: “We’re thrilled to bring our original, authentic and ethically sourced chocolate to Gloucester. Gloucester Quays was an obvious choice for the business as the centre is already a great destination to shop and dine. It’s our mission to make chocolate exciting, as we grow our presence throughout the UK and globally too.”
Following its inception in 2004, Hotel Chocolat has grown from strength-to-strength and now has over 100 stores and cafés and recently announced strong year-on-year results..
Signing a five year lease, the chocolatier will take a 1,220sq ft store and will create new jobs within the region when it opens in September.
The new signing follows a host of recent tenant announcements at Gloucester Quays, including Five Guys, Radley London, adidas and Hugo Boss.
Lifestyle Outlets continues to defy the national retail trend with soaring sales and new store openings. The company has reported a 14% increase in sales, in contrast to slowing high street sales, which rose by only 0.6% according to the British Retail Consortium*.
Rachel Scott, head of leasing at Lifestyle Outlets, comments: “We’re thrilled to announce Hotel Chocolat will be opening its doors at Gloucester Quays very soon, following a flurry of recent new signings. Having a well-known luxury British brand like Hotel Chocolat is a great addition to the high standard of quality brands that make Gloucester Quays a must-visit destination in the region.
At a time when the retail and leisure industry is inundated with closures and decreases in footfall and sales, we’re seeing ongoing success, bringing in new brands and expanding the vibrant offering in our outlets thanks to our mission and vision to create exciting environments for shopping, dining and ongoing entertainment for all visitors.”
