Hotter Shoes improves online customer experience and boosts revenue with Taggstar Social Proof Messaging

Hotter has seen a massive 5% revenue uplift after adding social proof messaging software, Taggstar to its online stores. Messages showing aggregated customer shopping trends were added to its UK website in summer 2017 to deliver a more helpful, supportive customer experience. As of July 2018, successful results saw the factual messages extended to the Hotter EU, German and US sites.

Taggstar shows online customers what people like them have bought or are interested in, to help them to pinpoint the right product and be confident that they’ve chosen the right shoes. The software works by pulling crowd-sourced data about product popularity and other trends derived from Hotter customers’ browsing history.   It’s the online equivalent of having a great shop assistant in a high street store.

The social proof messages are now shown on all product description pages across all Hotter’s online categories spanning Women, Men, Wide-Fit, GORE-TEXⓇ footwear, Originals, Accessories and Outlet. They include the number of people who’ve looked at an item, and top-trending products, based on sales spikes.

Hotter’s eCommerce team integrated Taggstar using Google Tag Manager, and began its first experiments in mid-2017. Between starting experiments in August 2017 and March 2018, 6.2 million product trend messages were shown to other online shoppers.

The tests showed, through A/B testing, that Taggstar had increased revenue by 5%, and the messages have now been added to the Hotter EU, German and US sites.
