Isotonic sports drink, iPro Sport, has signed up to become the official sports drink sponsor of this year’s Ramathon half marathon.
The event, in support of Macmillan Cancer Charity, will take place on Sunday 7 June in Derby, and follows the success of the re-launched Ramathon in 2014 – the first since 1996. With the race limit increased to 4,000 runners this year, it already looks set to be bigger and better than ever. In addition to the main event, a Mini Ramathon fun run event will be taking place, targeted at young children and their families.
Hydration is a crucial part of running any half marathon, and as part of the sponsorship deal, iPro Sport will be supporting runners by providing bottles of the drink on the half marathon’s route.
The drink, which comes in three flavour variants, is the only one of its kind on the UK market containing 100% natural ingredients. The runners will benefit from a natural spring water based product with added vitamins such as B6, B12 and C – part of your recommended nutritional intake. iPro Sport is proven to replenish the body with minerals which are lost through sweat when undertaking rigorous exercise.
Richard Kay, race director of the Ramathon, said: “We are delighted that iPro Sport is supporting the Derby Ramathon for the second year running. With the event being hosted at the iPro Stadium, iPro Sport seemed like a natural partnership when it came to choosing a sports drink sponsor. Having used iPro Sport personally whilst training for last year’s Toronto Waterfront Marathon, I can also testify to the product’s effectiveness.”
Lisa Marraffa, marketing director at iPro Sport, said: “We are incredibly proud of our strong connections to the city of Derby, and as such are delighted to be supporting such a wonderful event for the second year running. It’s great to see the whole community come together, particularly with the inclusion of the Mini Ramathon for young children. Runners taking part in the marathons show great strength and discipline and we are looking forward to helping to rehydrate them on the day.”
