It’s a ‘Long Day’ for Bennett Opie’s new recruits

It’s set to be a ‘Long Day’ for Bennett Opie’s latest new recruits to the commercial team as Alex Long joins as senior national account manager and Elaine Day takes up the role of foodservice account manager. They will represent the Opies brand which comprises retail and foodservice sweet and savoury preserves in addition to the agency brands Bennett Opie has exclusive distribution of including Monin, Linghams, and Ferns curry pastes.

Alex Long has taken up the newly created position of senior national account manager and will have responsibility for managing and developing the Bennett Opie business across major multiple retail outlets. Bringing a proven track record of 10 years’ sales success working with market-leading blue chip and SME businesses, Alex has wide-reaching FMCG experience from managing national retail accounts, working within off-trade channels, developing a portfolio of branded and own-label partnerships and most recently developing new business opportunities in the discounter channel.

As foodservice account manager, Elaine Day takes responsibility of looking after northern wholesalers from the Midlands to Scotland. Elaine has experience of working in various managerial roles for a national retailer and more recently working for Kellogg’s. This has provided a broad overview of the FMCG industry and empathy of the challenges and requirements for both brand and retailer.

Speaking of her new role Elaine Day said “When I saw this new opportunity it really appealed to me as it played to my strengths of building successful relationships and opportunities for brands and retailers. I’m a keen foodie so I really enjoy working on creating ideas of how Opies products can be used by chefs and caterers alike. Travelling the miles from the Midlands to Scotland will pass thanks to my love of listening to Radio 2 and of course Foodie Thursday being a particular favourite!”
