Joules, the premium British lifestyle brand, has joined forces with its charity partner the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, to help its customers give back to the environment this Christmas.
Following the launch of its new festive ‘Woodland Edit’ on 6 November, Joules will plant a tree with the Woodland Trust for every one of the edit’s 19 products sold during the Christmas period.
The initiative supports Joules’ pledge to plant a quarter of a million trees by 2022. The pledge was announced in March 2020 and supports the Woodland Trust’s campaign to plant 50 million new trees by 2025. This would be a fifth of what the Government’s Committee for Climate Change says is needed to meet the country’s 2050 net zero carbon emission target.
The edit includes a variety of festive favourites, including Joules’ ‘Cracking Christmas Jumper’ which can be worn by all the family (including four-legged friends!) and is perfect for gifting.
In addition to the launch of the edit this week, Joules has unveiled its Christmas animation ‘A Woodland Tale’ to the public. The heart-warming video, which launches today, aims to raise awareness of the Woodland Trust, the need to give back to nature and to protect the endangered species who make an appearance in it, including the red squirrel, pine marten, capercaillie and door mouse.
Joules partners with the Woodland Trust through its Responsibly Joules programme, the business’ ESG framework which combines Joules’ charity partnerships; environmental initiatives; sourcing practices; and people, culture and community support. The relationship with the Woodland Trust is founded on the two businesses’ mutual love for the great outdoors. Together, they are working to raise awareness of the importance of protecting and creating woodland, so that it can be enjoyed by everyone – now and in years to come.
Nick Jones, CEO at Joules, commented: “We are thrilled to be working with the Woodland Trust over the festive period in support of our long-term partnership and pledge to plant 250,000 trees by 2022.
“The past challenging months have led all of us to enjoy the great outdoors more than ever. At Joules we feel passionately about protecting it for generations to come and through our festive Woodland Edit it is really easy, and enjoyable, for our customers to give back. The ultimate feel good gift!’
Karl Mitchell, director of fundraising at the Woodland Trust, said: “We are delighted with Joules’s commitment to creating more woodland in the UK. We have pledged to plant 50 million trees by 2025 but will not be able to achieve this on our own – we need the support of businesses, schools, communities and the Government. These trees from Joules will be a vital step to helping us achieve this aim and will bring some festive cheer to such a difficult year.”
The Woodland Edit is available from 5 November and ‘A Woodland Tale’ launches on 9 November online at www.joules.com.
