Linda McCartney Foods has announced the judging panel for its contest to find the UK’s Tastiest Meat Free Dish.
It includes photographer Mary McCartney, celebrity chef Aldo Zilli, Green & Blacks co-founder Josephine Fairley, Atomic Kitten and Celebrity Masterchef winner, Liz McClarnon, and Sainsbury’s buyer Alison Atkin.
The contest, which will see the winning recipe developed into a Linda McCartney Foods product, follows on from the McCartney’s Meat Free Monday campaign.
The judging panel, which has been selected by the McCartney family, will meet on 10 February 2011 to taste a range of dishes and select three finalists, who will each win a Baumatic oven.
Linda McCartney Foods will then visit the finalists’ hometowns to make a mini documentary of each finalist creating their dish, which will be aired on ITV’s This Morning between 5-11 April 2011.
The winner of Linda McCartney Foods UK’s Tastiest Meat Free Dish will be chosen by the public through online votes and announced on 11 April 2011. The winning dish will be developed and be sold alongside the current range in September.
The winner will be also invited to the Linda McCartney test kitchen to create the dish and receive a handmade kitchen table in English oak made by furniture maker Titchmarsh & Goodwin.
Sir Paul McCartney said: “I’ve always been passionate about great food so I am delighted to be supporting our campaign to find the UK’s tastiest meat-free dish. Meat-free eating isn’t just for vegetarians, it’s for anyone looking to lead a healthier and more environmentally responsible way of living and this. Linda was always passionate about creating home cooked meals so would have been delighted with the enthusiasm and support we have had from our competition – it’s even inspired me to try some new recipes.”
