Kantar is predicting that over 60% of people are expected to participate in Black Friday this year, an increase from 57% last year.
The average Black Friday shopper is expected to spend over £60 in the sales this year, while a quarter of us say we will spend over £200, it adds.
While all eyes will be on Amazon – where 1/3 people say they are interested in shopping this year – the high street is also set to win. Last year shoppers spent nearly three times more in physical shops than on a normal day.
Despite one in three shoppers saying they are more Amazon’s deals than any other retailer, only 5% of us actually shopped with ecommerce giant on Black Friday last year and similar numbers are expected again.
Black Friday is about more than electronics. Half of 18-24 year olds will be looking for a deal on health and beauty products while a third of over 55s will use the sales to look for garden and DIY bargains.
